M16 Medallion Rug Pattern

About this design

Drawn in the Medallion style. Built around a central medallion in the Heriz, Serapi and Tabriz tradition. The geometric core is balanced by floral corner-pieces, giving a classic, collectible look.

It is a hand-drawn nakış, the weaving cartoon that sets out every knot before the loom is strung. This one measures 244×305 cm (8×10 ft), drawn at 35×40 knots per 10 cm, about 1,041,880 knots in all, in a palette of 9 colors. The drawing is the part we sell: a production-ready file a weaver can load onto a loom and weave in their own size and yarn.

You can see how a cartoon becomes a rug on our Craft & Heritage page.

File & compatibility

The pattern is an 8-bit indexed BMP cartoon where every pixel is one knot. The steps below cover going from the downloaded file to the loom.

  1. 1
    Download your files

After checkout you receive the clean, watermark-free 8-bit BMP weaving cartoon and the color palette sheet (HEX and RGB).

  2. 2
    Open your weaving software

The BMP opens in most knot-cartoon and weaving CAD systems, such as NedGraphics, EAT and common loom-cartoon rugPatterns.

  3. 3
Import the BMP as a knot cartoon

Each pixel maps to one knot at the listed density (for example 32×36 per 10 cm), so the woven rug matches the design pixel for pixel.

  4. 4
Map the palette to your yarn

Match each design color from the palette sheet to a yarn in your stock. The palette gives exact HEX and RGB values, and your supplier matches each one to a real yarn.

  5. 5
    Set size and knot density

Confirm the dimensions and knot quality, or re-scale the cartoon to a standard size (8×10, 9×12, 10×14) or a custom size.

  6. 6
Load the loom and start weaving

Send the finished cartoon to your loom or weavers and begin production.
